Singing Again…

We have been so happy this week to be singing again at all of our centres!

It seems like only yesterday that we were all sweltering in the great heatwave of 2018 during the Big Sing in Malton in late July…

Now we are back singing in all of our venues – Pickering, Kirkbymoorside, Helmsley, Danby and Malton – and just over 100 people came along this week to sing with us.

A lovely week of singing and talking and supping tea/coffee and munching biscuits together.

To cap it all – today at The Milton Rooms we had a visitor from Leeds University – Niamh Quinlivan (see picture) who sang for us and is soon to embark on a research project looking into the effects of singing on well-being. Niamh visiting us over the next few months is one aspect of the collaboration between Musical Memories and Leeds University’s School of Music.

What People say…

Thanks so much for another wonderful afternoon at The Big Sing.  It is such a treat to see so many older people singing and feeling happy and part of something so welcoming and enjoyable. The ladies S and I sat with both had their elderly Mums with them - they so enjoyed themselves and it took me back to the pleasure my Mum and I enjoyed when we sang together for so many happy occasions. Thank you for all your hard work (specially the sandwiches at short notice) - you made us all very happy
